Ashes to Glass FAQ's

Frequently Asked Questions - Ashes to Glass

How much ashes do you need?

We only require a Tablespoon of ashes per order. We only use a small amount, as this produces the best visuals within the glass. Any remaining ashes are returned with your memorial.

How do I get the ashes to you?

You will need to send us the ashes once you have ordered the memorial. Full instructions can be seen here.

How long does the memorial process take?

Once you have sent us the ashes, we will hand blown the memorial within 5-10 days of receipt of the ashes. We will then ship the memorial via tracked delivery to your designated address.

How durable are the glass memorials?

We only use the highest quality Barium glass, which we melt ourselves here in our furnace. The glass is extremely durable, however the memorial needs to be treated with respect and care, as damage can happen, as with all glass items.

Can I see my memorial being made?

Absolutely. If you would prefer to bring the ashes into our studio in person, we are open Monday - Friday, where you will be able to watch us glassblowing the memorial. You may also be able to help and join in with the glassblowing process if you feel up for it.

How long does it take to learn to make Ashes into Glass?

It took 25 years of glassblowing experience and skill acquisition, for Stuart Wiltshire to begin creating ashes into keepsakes. These 25 years, were spent building glass sculpting techniques, which in turn would allow him to start developing ashes memorial ideas.

From there the process of creating ashes ornaments, came into fruition using traditional techniques to then begin crafting the cremation keepsakes.
